Buy a Diode Laser for Your Beauty Salon

Purchasing a diode laser is one of the most important investments for your salon. You want to be sure you choose the right device—one that fits your clients, your workload, and your growth ambitions. Beauty Business Holland is happy to help you with the selection process. No sales talk, just honest information. So you can make a decision with confidence.

At Beauty Business Holland, we work with ICONIC diode lasers: the only diode lasers fully designed and patented in the Netherlands. But we’ll tell you more about that later. First, what should you actually know before you buy?

What is a diode laser?

A diode laser is a professional device for permanent laser hair removal. The device sends concentrated light at a specific wavelength into the skin. This light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicle, disabling the hair root without damaging the surrounding skin.

The big advantage of a diode laser compared to IPL is precision. IPL works with a broad light spectrum, while a diode laser operates at one or multiple specific wavelengths. This gives much better results, especially for darker skin types or finer hair. Professional salons therefore almost always choose diode over IPL when they are serious about hair removal.

What should you look for when buying a diode laser?

There are many suppliers, and price differences can be significant. Here are the factors that really matter:

  1. Power (wattage)

Power determines how effectively and how quickly you can work. We recommend devices with an output of 1000 to 1800 watts as a minimum for professional use. Below this threshold, the energy beam is often insufficient for effective hair removal on all skin types. Above 2000 watts, you work faster and see results in fewer treatments.

  1. Number of wavelengths

A classic diode laser works at 808 nm. More modern systems combine multiple wavelengths, such as 755 nm, 808 nm, 940 nm, and 1064 nm. This combination reaches different depths of the hair follicle, making it more effective on a wider range of hair types and skin tones. A 4-wave system is now the standard for serious salons.

  1. Cooling system

A good cooling system protects the skin and makes the treatment more comfortable for your client. Look for contact cooling (cooling via the handpiece itself) combined with TEC semiconductor cooling. The better the cooling system, the longer you can work continuously without the risk of skin irritation. The ICONIC devices even cool down to -22°C!

  1. Shot lifespan

The lifespan of the device is expressed in shots. Good professional lasers have a lifespan of 50 to 100 million shots. That’s enough for thousands of client treatments. (ICONIC devices even have two handpieces). Cheaper devices often do not reach this, especially machines offered on AliExpress. Moreover, these often lack proper (medical) CE certification.

  1. CE certification and safety

In the Netherlands and Europe, CE marking is mandatory for electrical equipment. Never buy a device without this certification. Besides safety risks, you may also face issues with insurance and liability if something goes wrong during a treatment.

Medical devices also require medical CE certification
For lasers used in medical applications, stricter European regulations apply. Previously this was the MDD (Medical Device Directive), but since 2021 it has been replaced by the stricter MDR (Medical Device Regulation).

Our lasers comply with the latest MDR standard
Both the Gold Ice v3 and the ICONIC laser have full European MDR certification. This is not common: less than 10% of lasers on the market meet this standard. This ensures you are investing in a device that meets the highest European safety requirements.

  1. Training and aftercare

A diode laser is only as valuable as the practitioner using it. Make sure a professional training session is included with your purchase. Good suppliers also offer aftercare: someone you can contact if you have questions or technical issues.

  1. Buy or lease?

More on this later on this page. In short: buying gives ownership and is more cost-effective in the long term. Leasing or rent-to-own provides flexibility and lower entry costs, ideal for starting salons or expansions.

The ICONIC diode laser, designed in the Netherlands

Most diode lasers on the market are OEM products: factory-made devices from China resold by intermediaries under their own brand. Nothing wrong with that—if the quality is right. But it does mean you have limited control over spare parts, updates, and maintenance.

ICONIC diode lasers are different. They are the only ones fully designed and patented in the Netherlands. This offers clear advantages:

  • Higher-quality components that last longer
  • Less noise during use, more comfortable for you and your client
  • Faster service response from the Netherlands
  • Continuous development, software updates, and improvements
  • Fully CE-certified and compliant with European safety standards

The ICONIC Diamond ICE model goes even further: with 5000W power, built-in AI that automatically determines optimal settings for each skin and hair type, and an integrated CRM system that tracks client data and treatment history. This is not just a machine—it’s a complete treatment system.

The ICONIC Diamond ICE also features a handpiece with antibacterial disinfection, which is unique—the only laser in Europe with this feature.

Frequently asked questions about buying a diode laser

What does a professional diode laser cost?

Prices for professional diode lasers vary widely depending on power, technology, and brand. At Beauty Business Holland, models start at an entry-level price suitable for starting salons, with financing options from approximately €375 per month. Contact us for a current customized quote.

How many shots does it last?

ICONIC models have a lifespan of at least 100 million shots. With average use, you can treat thousands of clients over the full lifespan of the device.

Is a diode laser safe for all skin types?

Yes, provided the device has the right wavelengths and a good cooling system. The 4-wave technology in ICONIC models is suitable for all skin phototypes, from light to very dark. We always recommend performing a test treatment for darker skin types.

What training do I need?

With every purchase from Beauty Business Holland, a professional instruction training is included. You’ll fully learn how to use the device and leave the training with enough knowledge to start immediately. We also offer group classes for deeper learning.

Can I buy a diode laser in installments?

Yes. We offer both financial leasing and rent-to-own options. With leasing, you pay a fixed monthly amount and become the owner at the end of the contract. With rent-to-own, the machine is yours immediately after payment completion. Rent-to-own is interest-free, and both options offer flexible terms.

What is the difference between 808nm and a 4-wave diode laser?

A classic 808nm laser works on a single wavelength and is effective for most hair types. A 4-wave system combines four wavelengths (755nm, 808nm, 940nm, and 1064nm), each targeting different depths of the hair follicle. The result: better effectiveness across more hair types and skin tones, including difficult cases like fine hair or darker skin.
